Welcome to Lemon Grove School District Preschool!
Our philosophy is that every child is unique and capable of learning. The preschool program provides a safe environment in which to encourage curiosity, value creativity, and foster a love of learning. The District’s mission is to provide a stimulating, culturally linguistic, and developmentally appropriate and engaging, educational experience for children 3 to 5 years of age. We facilitate growth in all areas of development; cognitive, social, emotional, and physical; through the concept of play.
An adopted preschool curriculum series is used in our program. Themes of interest to preschool children are presented by a highly trained and devoted staff. Lessons are designed and integrated throughout the curriculum to create an enthusiasm for learning, to maximize achievement for each child. We focus on developing early language and literacy skills, math skills, and the implementation of technology within the curriculum. A combination of teacher-led and student facilitated activities offer opportunities for a child to experiment, observe, socialize, and participate at his/her level of comfort. Active parent participation is expected in the preschool program and with the development of your child.
The program is dually funded through Title 5 of the California Code for Regulation (State Preschool) and First 5 San Diego's Quality Preschool Initiative. The program is monitored for quality by the California Department of Education, Child Development Division and Community Care Licensing. The preschool program is part-day, and provides a no-cost, as well as fee-based program. Services are available to all persons who meet program eligibility requirements without regard to sex, sexual orientation, race, gender, religion, ethnicity and national origin, color, and physical or mental disability. We welcome enrollment of children with disabilities.
We look forward to serving you and your child!
