Welcome to the 2012/13 school year! I am eager to start the inaugural year at the new Lemon Grove Academy for the Sciences and Humanities (Preschool through 8th grade) school. This summer there has been much preparation as we re-open the middle school campus and continue to provide an elementary school experience that is both innovative and exciting.
As you plan the next couple weeks you will want to pay close attention to the following dates and times:
August 22nd Office Opens (enrollment hours 8:00 – 2:30)
August 31st Kindergarten Orientation (1:00)
August 31st Preschool Orientation 9:00)
August 31st Class Lists posted at 5:00 at the front of the school September 4th First Day of School
The staff and I are committed to providing a world class learning experience for your child. In addition to the amazing in-class learning our students will continue to have a wealth of out-of-class experiences. Our Performing Arts teacher Ms. Petway will continue to provide enriching experiences for our students. Coach “T” will teach high quality, physical education to our students. In addition, we will offer many after school enrichment and intervention classes for our students including choir, robotics, Spanish, basketball, soccer, gardening, etc. We will also continue to offer a wide range of counseling and social work services for our students and families. Finally, our free health clinic in collaboration with UCSD’s School of Medicine has been expanded with free dental care for our students and free legal services through Cal Western School of Law for families. We are committed to making Lemon Grove Academy the center of the community.
The arrival of a new school year always brings about a great deal of excitement. This year will definitely live up to these expectations.
